About this taster session

The taster session is a fun interactive workshop for anyone interested in the Makaton Language Programme. You will learn up to 46 signs and symbols and gain experience in using these. This session is designed as an introduction to Makaton and can be followed up by attending a Level 1 Workshop.

What you will get:

• A copy of all the signs and symbol concepts used/taught during the session
• Handouts, including FAQs, sentence examples, an Action Plan and information about the Makaton Language Programme
• A Certificate of Attendance

To facilitate the Taster Session and for participants to gain the most out of this, Elklan requests the following:

• Participants switch on their webcam when attending the Makaton Taster Session. This is to enable the Makaton tutor to monitor the signs that are being used and to provide feedback as appropriate.
• Participants join the Taster Session from an individual device, in the case where there is more than one person attending from a setting. This enables the Makaton tutor and the participants to get the most out of the signing parts of the session.
• Participants endeavour to use a quiet distraction-free area when attending the Taster Session. Participants may be asked to mute their microphones in cases where there is excess background noise.
